Flesh, Skin, and Color

For this portrait of Wheein, a Kpop soloist and member of the group Mamamoo, I wanted to play around with the flesh tone color to consider how slight variations of peaches and other shades define form and register "skin" and "skin color" in our eyes. Furthermore, I wanted the background to also mirror shades of peach and mimic flesh as she appears and disappears. How do we find semblances of the human form from splotches of color? And, if we are merely splotches of color, why are some flesh tones more privileged than others?
